We are all limited on time, so I have put together a very quick and easy guide full of practical self-care ideas that fit seamlessly into your busy schedule. Whether you have a few minutes or just a moment to spare, these simple practices can help you prioritise your well-being and find balance amidst the hustle and bustle of life. Let’s explore ways to nurture yourself, even when time is scarce!
Take Deep Breaths
Why?
Deep breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
How?
Find a quiet spot either in your home or somewhere where you will not be interrupted. Inhale deeply through your nose, filling your lungs, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat a few times for 2 minutes. You’ll instantly feel the difference and the benefits.
Create a Morning Routine
Why?
Starting your day intentionally sets a positive tone and helps you feel more grounded. If you jump straight out of bed and start running around like a headless chicken, you’ll likely feel that way throughout the rest of the day.
How?
Dedicate 5-10 minutes to activities like stretching, journaling, or sipping herbal tea. Any of these will take up no more than 10 minutes of your time in the morning, so even the busiest people will be able to find the time. I use THIS JOURNAL by Clever Fox which I highly recommend.
Listen to Uplifting Music
Why?
Music affects mood and emotions. Uplifting tunes boost your spirits. I constantly have my headphones in. I actually have them in now whilst writing this. Music is the key to making your soul feel amazing.
How?
Create a playlist of your favourite songs on Spotify or Itunes. Listen while commuting, doing chores, or your everyday tasks. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel.
Enjoy a Power Nap
Why?
Short naps enhance alertness, memory, and mood! I know this sounds crazy, but honestly sleep is everything. If we do not have enough sleep it effects our performance, or mood and how we function for the day.
How?
Lie down for 10-15 minutes. Don’t forget to set an alarm! Close your eyes and embrace the peace and quiet. Even if you don’t properly fall into a deep sleep, just lying down and resting is good for your body.
Connect with Nature
Why?
Who doesn’t love getting out and about in mother’s nature. Nature reduces stress and boosts mood instantly.
How?
Step outside, breathe fresh air, and observe your surroundings. Take some much needed you time, switch off and appreciate everything that is in front of you. Just simply be in the present moment.
